Your (accidental) Hosts

We never planned on becoming short-term rental hosts!

It all started when a charming Key West-style bungalow at Wrightsville Beach caught our eye. When we learned that a developer was interested in the property and would tear the house down and build a multi-million-dollar duplex, well, we couldn’t let that happen! So, we took a leap of faith, bought the property, and spent months restoring it from a state of gross disrepair. What began as a passion project turned into much more as we began sharing our beloved Blue Lagoon with travelers on Airbnb.

Fast forward to 2020, when, during the uncertainty of COVID, we made another spontaneous decision. Craving a getaway, we purchased a log cabin in Blowing Rock, sight unseen. Our realtor sent us a video, we made an offer, and just like that, Wild Mountain Honey became ours. After another renovation and initially keeping it as a second home for a few years, we decided to open its doors to guests as well in 2024.

In July of 2024 we fell in love once again – this time with a secluded 4-acre property in Boone. The Appalachia style cabin with 600 feet of Creek frontage and surrounded by nature was everything we dreamed of. As we breathe new life into this special place we’ve named Sweetwater Lodge, we look forward to sharing it with fellow travelers in the near future.

What started as an unexpected journey has turned into a true passion. We love creating warm and inviting spaces where people can escape, unwind, and make memories. Hospitality is in our hearts, and nothing makes us happier than welcoming guests to experience the magic of our homes.

Christine and Sam are year-round residents of Wrightsville Beach. UNCW alumni and college sweethearts, we have lived in Wilmington or Wrightsville Beach for almost forty years, where we raised two kids and many, many dogs. When we’re not

Our values

We are HOSPITALITY focused. Making our guests happy makes us happy. Simple as that! We offer our guests the comfort, amenities, and attention to detail that we would want for ourselves. We strive to learn about our guests before they arrive so that we can prepare and personalize their stay.

We practice sustainability. Our love for the ocean and mountains motivates us to protect and preserve the environment. We make simple, conscious choices in our vacation homes to minimize our impact on the environment and reduce waste and pollution.

We SUPPORT small LOCAL businesses. We support our fellow community business owners by purchasing gifts made locally for our guests, showcasing art made by local artists and recommending our favorite locally owned shops and restaurants.

We GIVE BACK to our communities. Because it feels good! We donate a percentage of every reservation to community and national charitable organizations.
